For our client, an international automotive supplier, we are looking for a System Development Engineer who combines system engineering knowledge with the ability to coordinate technical activities and work directly with automotive customers.

In this role, you will take functional ownership of assigned system features, connecting customer expectations with system and software requirements, calibration, integration and validation. You will coordinate contributions across engineering teams and help keep technical decisions, documentation and project activities aligned throughout the V-model.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development of assigned E/E controlled systems, from requirements and architecture definition through integration, validation and release.
  • Translate OEM requirements, applicable standards and regulations into functional and technical architecture specifications.
  • Manage system and software requirements, configuration, deviations and diagnostic requirements, maintaining traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the Electronic Application team’s activities, working closely with system engineering, component design, project management and manufacturing.
  • Oversee the development and validation of electronic and mechatronic components to meet performance, quality, reliability, safety and compliance targets.
  • Plan and coordinate Design Validation and Product Validation activities, maintain Design Verification Plans (DVPs), and track technical risks, issues and corrective actions.
  • Act as the technical interface for multiple OEM customers, leading technical discussions, supporting design reviews and coordinating issue resolution.
  • Support calibration and system behaviour analysis using MATLAB/Simulink, CANape and ETAS tools, including signal recording and measurement-data analysis.
  • Coordinate DFMEA activities and ensure that findings from risk assessments and validation are reflected in requirements and design decisions.
  • Ensure timely preparation and consistency of technical deliverables, including bills of materials, drawings, test reports, control plans and validation records.
  • Drive cost optimisation and design improvements within the assigned system scope, considering manufacturing needs and project targets.
  • Follow internal and customer development procedures, support IATF-related audits, and maintain technical reporting, product history and lessons learned.

What we are looking for

  • Experience in automotive systems engineering, control systems, ECU applications or a comparable technical role.
  • A sound understanding of the physical principles behind electromechanical systems and their control.
  • Understanding of embedded software, including the role of basic software and its interfaces with application functions.
  • Working proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink beyond introductory use, together with experience in calibration.
  • Experience with signal acquisition, monitoring and measurement-data analysis using Vector and/or ETAS tools.
  • Experience interpreting OEM specifications and managing system or software requirements using tools such as Polarion, IBM RTC or DOORS.
  • Familiarity with the V-model, DFMEA and automotive quality processes, including IATF audit participation.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering work and manage communication with several OEM stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to both technical work and documentation.
  • An engineering degree in a relevant discipline and fluent English.

We offer

  • Hybrid work after onboarding, with approximately 3 days on-site and 2 days remote per week.
  • A generous relocation allowance.
  • Co-financing of private medical care and life insurance with an investment component.
  • Subsidised sports cards, language courses and meals.
  • An additional paid day off during your birthday month.
